New and notable inboundy things this month

It's the end of the month again... the sun is finally coming out, and is hopefully here to stay.  I've assembled the stories that I found particularly interesting this month.  Some of these are not from September and that’s the beauty of blogging.  When it's done well you create assets to be discovered over and over again.  One of my clients has a blog article from 2012 that still generates over 6,000 visitors per month.. but anyways I digress. Here are the posts and articles that have resonated this month.

INBOUND15

As an inbound marketer, September is THE month. It’s the INBOUND conference in Boston! Being super-busy I wasn’t able to make the 24 hour flight to Boston this year, but there are slides, videos and presentation notes galore on the Inbound blog. From browsing these files I’m sad I missed these two sessions:

Anum Hussain on “Building a B2C2B Content strategy”. In this session she walked through the growth plan at Sidekick to target their own specific audience in a measureable way. Key quote:  Avoid blindly following best practices and focus instead on uncovering what works best for your own audience” Anum Hussain.

Ann Handley on Bigger, Bolder, Braver Content Marketing. How do you make your content stand out in a sea of mediocre, same old, same old?  By telling a bigger story, with a braver voice - “The biggest missed opportunity with content is playing it safe” Ann Handley.

But most of all I’m sad I missed the serious dad dancing of Brian Halligan.

Psychology tips for brilliant blog writing

This article has some great tips for writing brilliant blog articles. I’ve found blogging is a muscle that just needs to be used regularly. The more you use it the better you get at it. Just write… then most importantly publish it… You can keep honing and honing but just publishing it, there is no perfect post and besides perfect would be boring.

Oh OK, I really want an Apple watch now

They didn't really hold much appeal before, but now... oh my!  The partnership with Hermes means that they’re oh so gorgeous, as well as nerdily functional.

We need to stop disastrous “women-in-tech” panels

I snorted my tea through my nose while reading this article.  I think we've all sat through many excrutiating “women in [insert industry]" panels. Seriously? What was Gayle King thinking asking those questions of YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki?  She's a brilliant, accomplished woman why ask her if all her kids were from the same father?  WTF!
